Comet (Aust) Pty Ltd, part of the Bachrach Group of Company’s are the owners of Orana Mall.
Orana Mall today lodged a Development Application with Dubbo City Council for an expansion of the existing shopping centre. The Development Application is for an additional 3600 square meters of leasable shop space and an additional 160 car parking spaces.
The development once completed will have approximately 30% of its car parking spaces under cover due to a large deck car park being built across the front of the current centre.
The additional retail space will give Orana Mall the ability to lease some of the additional retail space to retailers that have never before traded in Dubbo.
Steve Gooley, General Manager of the Bachrach Group commented that “Discussions have commenced with a number of fashion retailers that will be opening new stores in this development once it is completed. They have been asking us for a number of years for a shop at Orana Mall. We are very happy to be able to lodge this application and look forward to a positive response from Dubbo Council as we are very confident of being able to fill the additional shops with quality retailers, enhancing the offer at Orana Mall and the offer of Dubbo as a Shopping destination.”
“Our Group has already commenced some discussions with a number of local contractors for the construction of the project. Construction should take 2 years from start to finish, hopefully completing the project before Christmas of 2011. We estimate that there will be some 180 construction jobs created by this development and 100 jobs that will be ongoing due to the additional retail offer.”
“The Development Application states a development value of $16.2 Million Dollars. On top of this will be shop fits and additional works which will exceed $20 Million Dollars. This development will be one of the largest economic drivers that Dubbo has seen for the past decade. In fact I can’t remember this level of investment by one company, in Dubbo, for a long period.”
The Bachrach Group is very confident in Dubbo as a city and as a place to invest. The Bachrach Group has owned Orana Mall since 1993 and has, and continues to play a vital role in the development of Dubbo.
